air and angels

A lovely day today spent walking with my friend Joanna. Bright sunlight, cool fresh air and great views over the Solway Firth. First we climbed the Waterloo Monument, and descended slowly on the forest track to Solway Fishery and back to New Abbey.Then on to Carsethorn, where we visited The Steamboat Inn. We sat by the log fire, half of our faces hot, half cool. The pub was full, warm and noisy with people of all ages chattering away. Just after I took this photo, there was a sudden silence, and Joanna said there was a saying about it meaning that an angel was passing by.

I hadn't heard that before, but its the title of a rather nice song by ABBA
