The Lion was awake today

I went to Chester Zoo early this morning before the crowds arrived and was lucky enough to see the male lion moving around his enclosure......he is normally fast asleep in a corner somewhere.  He was pacing around in a figure of eight pattern which was a bit disturbing though......he must have been doing it for some time as he had made a very obvious pattern on the ground.  It reminded me of the polar bears I saw there many, many years ago who would pace up and down all day :-(
