Coventry Cathedral
Every year, between Christmas and New Year, we visit a cathedral. This year it was Coventry and we actually got three for the price of one!
The original was built in the 12th century and there are some of the foundations visible. The second was a church until it was elevated to cathedral status in 1918. On 14 November 1940, during the massive blitz of Coventry, it was destroyed and it has become a symbol of forgiveness and reconciliation.
The current cathedral was consecrated in 1962. It is right next to the ruins of the second. The interior has a huge tapestry and much which his symbolic of our times. It made a very reflective visit which I would recommend, but at least look up Wikipedia for more details - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coventry_Cathedral -
