Burning at both ends

A few times recently, towards sunset, I've observed that the sky to the east(ish) takes on a pinkish glow as the sun sets to the west(ish). (This has probably always happened, and I've just been too unobservant to notice!)

We were driving up the road from Portgordon this afternoon, came up the brae, saw the sky and went "WOW!!".  The sunset proper was in full golden swing, and the clouds opposite had taken on a deep smouldering red. Car onto the verge, hazards on, grabbed camera, leapt out abandoning Victoria, and started to shoot.

As I've said before, I rarely choose to shoot panoramas, but there was no other way to capture what was going on across the breadth of the sky.
