Tedium
Such an irritating day. We are supposed to sign the sales contract on our apartment here in Boston today. The buyers are proving to be real pains in the you-know-what, and they are dragging this whole process out interminably.
We were supposed to have had this all wrapped up last week, but they asked for an extension, because apparently they have to read ALL the fine print on EVERY piece of paper at least 100 times, and then go over it again with a magnifying glass and a red pencil! After a lot of back-and-forthing over niggly details, they then kept asking our condo board for documents that the board does not give out. They certainly don't appear to understand what "NO" means! Our apartment is not very big -- just over 1,000 square feet, yet they had a home inspection that went on for over an hour and a half, and then came back with a lot of little tiny things they want repaired or replaced (which is fine), AND they want proof in writing that said repairs/replacements were done and paid for! How insulting.
It is now 4:04 p.m. and the contract will become null at 5:00 p.m. No doubt they will sign at precisely 4:59 3/4 p.m., and then they will require me (the "Owner of Record") to provide a copy of my birth certificate, a valid passport, a valid driver's license, and a full set of fingerprints to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am indeed who I purport to be!
I guess it comes as no surprise, Gentle Reader, that we do not anticipate becoming best friends with our new neighbours!
