As the sun goes down

I love to visit Castle Howard at this time of year. I think there is something particularly magical about the lake in winter and the twinkly Christmas trees which frame the main path.

It was a bit of a flying visit this afternoon, so the sun was already starting to go down when we arrived and most visitors had left. I quite enjoyed the quiet solitude as I took in the beauty of it all, though I was interrupted in a nice way by the excited squeaks of my children as they headed to the play park before it closed for the night.
