An early morning jaunt around Kep National Park. A great way to start the day, revelling in tropical lushness.

Later a return to Phnom Penh and more reviewing of Ruby's book. Dinner and drinks with the gang. I have a readymade life here in Phnom Penh that makes work trips very balanced, if working hard and socialising hard can be termed balanced. I slip into the feeling of living here again, which tells me I'm at ease. There couldn't be a starker contrast with the balance of other work trips, although I always derive a lot of new perspectives and knowledge from them. I was in Aceh two weeks ago but it feels like another universe. South Sudan and Liberia are all-encompassing because of limited freedom to move around. In places that I travel to regularly I must cultivate a balance when there. An aim for 2017.

It'll never stop being amusing when my colleague Jackson addresses me using my full name, the way a Cambodian would say it.
