St Mary, Chithurst

We ventured out for a couple of hours this afternoon, thinking we might pop into the Buddhist monastery at Chithurst. However, in the event, Christianity got the better of us and we ended up visiting three lovely local churches: St James at Stedham, St Mary at Iping and (pictured) St Mary at Chithurst. The latter is a definite contender for my favourite church, it's very cute. All three of them were very prettily decorated for the festive season for natural greenery. They were also all extremely cold and I didn't stay inside any of them for very long. Stedham is also notable for the pre-Saxon sarcophagus and lid leaning against the wall outside.
