The crash

We were in the house when we heard an almighty thud. We ran to the window and saw a learner driver had mounted the kerb, two doors down from us, and straight into the electricity box. All power went out in the street. The girl and her mother were clearly shocked and upset but thankfully no one was hurt.
As it was a Sunday not a lot happened for a long time and we went some hours without electricity. We weren't too concerned until we all got into the car (as we had been invited to a friend's house for lunch) and realised that our garage door wouldn't open because it is electric.
