Ancient Architecture
Somerset House first built in 1547 for £10,000 by Henry VIII's son Edward VI. (Duke of Somerset) This mansion he built himself lasted for many years with many different uses to the Royal Family; Up until they fled London to escape the Plague in 1665. It even survived The Great Fire of London in 1666. However it soon fell into disrepair and eventually was pulled down in 1775 and rebuilt into the building we see standing on the riverfront in London today.
I picked the structure of this pillared wall To capture 'ANcient Architecture' for August Scavenger hunt as I liked the pattern and shape they create.
An interesting walk on my lunch break to capture this!
