The Last Train .......

A drive out in search of waxwings proved fruitless but we ended up seeing, through the car window, the sights of Guiseley, Ilkley, Bolton Abbey, Addingham, Keighley, Oakworth and Halifax.

This is a shot of the last train of the year (the 15:56 Mince Pie Special) as it approaches Oakworth Station. The station shot to fame following the 1970 version of the film The Railway Children. The KWVR persuaded the film-makers to keep the name "Oakworth" in the film, with dramatic consequences in terms of visitor numbers.

It's now 7 pm and the fireworks have already started out there. I hope you all manage to see in the New Year in your own special way.
