Morningside Angel

I often pass St Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Edinburgh, and admire its design. I decided to find out a bit more about it, after taking a photo of its beautiful Guardian Angel. The angel is holding a model of the Presbytory and kneeling on a coiled snake.
The church was designed by Sir Robert Lorimer, who was a prolific Scottish architect and furniture designer- and a great promotor of the arts and cratfs movement. He designed the church in 1905. I was interested that he spent most of his young life at Kellie castle in Fife, which happens to be one of my favourite places.
The Lorimers are a distinguished family with the artist John Lorimer, being Robert's brother and Hew Lorimer (sculptor) being his son.
