ryokan entrance

A ryokan is a Japanese Inn originating in the Edo period, spanning from the 15th to 17th century, along the highways and byways of Japan (perhaps a b and b?)
The guest rooms have tatami flooring, bedding is a futon, bathing in hot spring waters and breakfast and dinner featuring seasonal dishes.

Amazingly, Kalamunda, here in the hills east of Perth, has a ryokan and I pass it on regular visits to the Gooseberry Hill Patisserie. Now, having stopped, taken a photo and googled, this will definitely be the next new experience, and only a few kms down the road!

How very cool.
