Cloudy sunrise
We didn't get up for sunrise this morning as the cloud wasn't predicted to clear until 8 am. So we stuck to our normal time for walking on the Port Hills (around 6.30 am start). Today we drove to Sumner, walked the newly (post earthquake) routed Captain Thomas track to Evans Pass. Then I continued along the crater rim walkway, taking in the Mt Pleasant Bluffs track, which will soon be given over to gorse etc if it is not maintained. The track itself stood up well the earthquake shaking and most of the stone steps are still in place, so it would be a shame if we were to lose it.
Now the sun has come out, but the wind too. We'll try to get some jobs done in the garden before it gets too hot.
Happy New Year, everyone. We're hoping it will be a bit better than the last two.
