Red letter day?

Or should I say red number day. I am now, officially, a former  employee of The Times, even though my last actual day of working was about 10 days ago. So it's a first all round: the first day of the year, the first day of the month... and the first day of a new chapter in my life. How exciting. Shame it's so wet and gloomy outside - but I'm not gloomy inside!
