Nendrum
The Ards Man and I spent the afternoon of New Year's Day wandering around Nendrum monastic site. The monastery is on a small island in Strangford Lough and was reputedly set up in the fifth century by St Machaoi. There are lots of little islands dotted around, with narrow one-track causeways between them. Some of the islands are private, with gated causeways leading to private homes.
It was a bright, clear day but absolutely freezing! Now home for a welcome cup of tea. I'm pleased that I actually managed to blip today - a good way to start the new year!
