This engine is being taken out of service for a complete overhaul after today; the boiler certificate expires at midnight. The overhaul will take many years but the engine has a twin which has been undergoing an overhaul for more than a decade - it is due to return to service later this year so there won't be a big gap in the locomotive roster.

An abstemious evening meant that I could feel virtuous and hangover-free this morning. I might have some wine this evening to celebrate. Happy New Year amigos - here's to another blipful year.
