New Year's Day Walk
It was after 2 am before we got to bed, but despite over-indulgence in cocktails and wine, we had a hearty breakfast of a spinach, spring onion and chilli frittata before heading out for a bracing walk. We climbed up Simonside and headed over the moorland towards Lordenshaws in bright sunshine, but just as we reached the lone pine with the Buddhist prayer flags, the snow blew in with the biting wind. We took a short cut down for the more sheltered forest path. It was a great walk though, and the mince pies with Crabbies ginger wine went down very well on our return.
