Abel Tasman National Park - Awaroa beach
We went by water taxi to the smallest of the national parks today - Abel Tasman in the north of the South Island. The weather was pretty rubbish for most of the day - made us feel right at home - and the sun appeared on the drive back to Nelson.
We took the water taxi to Awaroa beach and then walked along the trail back to Tonga Quarry where we were collected for the return. Great day. Lovely scenery - would have been improved with sunshine but good anyway.
Split Apple rock in extras. Made of granite it is in the shape of an apple which has been cut in half. It is a popular tourist attraction in the waters of the Tasman Sea approximately 50 metres off the coast.
