Behind the mask

Feathered, jewelled mask,
Conceals much but cannot hide,
The shadow behind.


The morning sun was catching this mask and casting some interesting shadows.  It seems a good metaphor for the "festive season", there are so many people who find the apparent jollity only accentuates their feelings of isolation and sadness.  Everyone assumes that everyone else has a wonderful, joyful and successful life and yet we all have our own shadows to deal with.  Things are not often what they seem.

The "noise" in this photo is probably dust ... I am not the most houseproud of people, I guess dust is sort of three dimensional visual noise really isn't it?
