Mount Pond: Goosles on the Grass

More intriguing optical effects in large.

Both the fuzzy fence bar framing and Mr's stunning iridescent speculum made me pick this pic...
I visited Clapham Common in the morning when the sun was low and the shadows were long. I found a solitary swan on the boating pond (drinking, dribbling, reflecting, and striking a stunning stance), as well as a pair of sweet Impostles. They were on high alert because there were dogs and runners about, and they had to take refuge in the pond with the swan and flap out several times to stay safe. After a while pottering about, they started canoodling, mated (series right from here), then washed (vigorously) and flapped their wings dry (on the edge and on the water). Impostle-lings imminent...?

I then walked over to see the Goosles (right from here): they were on the grass next to Mount Pond, and I found a robin (on a post and on reeds) as well as the Cayuga duck there too. The Goosles were looking ace in the bright sunshine with their long Goosle-shaped shadows. Mr. kept doing Pilates, but they didn't leave the fenced-off enclosure which was a shame...

A Canada goose took off on a bombing run (series right from here) while I was by the pond's edge which was a fun photographic opportunity, and the bright sunshine caught the Cayuga's iridescent plumage nicely (although it wasn't playing ball position-wise...)
