Tiny Tuesday - Blaschka Bouquet

Look at it and tell me it's not real...

Stuck in Boston - oh, the of horror - and we took advantage of a rainy day to visit the Natural History Museum at the university. What a fab place. Excellent exhibits and background information on evolutionary biology (Charlotte's area of interest), climate change, indigenous peoples including natives of those lands and others, and a massive stuffed animal repository (ok, not so great).

One of the things that took our breath away was a dual exhibition of the glasswork of the Blaschka Brothers, and this tiny bouquet is an example. When faced with a room filled with plants and flowers, it took a staff member to convince gardener Janet that they were not real, but were in fact glass. In another section there were sea molluscs and octopus - see extras.

No one now knows how to do this. The brothers took the secret to their graves.

Stupid o'clock rising tomorrow to catch the replacement plane home - hopefully there will be no further surprises. It has however been a fabulous additional day of fun, and the hotel restaurant has done my bulging belly no good at all. What did you get for Christmas, Incredibish? Fat. I got fat for Christmas.
