The sight and sound of waders carefully searching for food at the low tide mark on Drum Sands was very pleasant on a walk from Cramond Brig to South Queensferry.  In places thousands of cockle shells litter the sand while the washed up tree trunk reminded me of a serpent looking out towards four islands in the Forth.   The nearest is Cramond Island with the distant Inchkeith at the ‘serpent’s face’ and above its shoulder is Inchgarvie and just discernible is Inchcolm with Fife behind.  Near the end of our walk we saw nuthatches close by but unfortunately I didn’t think to take my camera out of the bag.
