The Blue Lake

Toady Mario & I went for a drive down to the Maniototo and Central Otago. Now usually at this time of year Central Otago is so hot that you would burn your feet if you walked bare foot on the pavement. Not today - it was really cold for the first half of the day, before the temperature managed to climb all the way to 21 deg C. Unbelievable!

Anyway, we visited Ranfurly, Naseby, Alexandra, Cromwell, Wedderburn, Bendigo (which is a former town, now just a few remains of stone cottages, and a truly fantastic view as it is situated high on a hill), and St Bathans, where I photographed the Blue Lake. The lake was originally a hill, but after the gold miners had finished with it all those years ago, all that was left was a giant hole that eventually filled with water. And so it became known as The Blue Lake.
The extra photo is of  two paddle boarders taking their chances in the very cold water. And one of the cottages at Bendigo.

A great day out.
