'A Lovely Lady with a Big Heart'

Jean and I drove out to Gargrave today to say goodbye to Jan, ex-colleague from Rhodesway School and friend.  A family friend, delivering the eulogy, summed her up as, 'a lovely lady with a big heart' and there were many nods in agreement amongst the congregation.

We hadn't seen Jan for some time but were aware that she had been battling cancer for several years.  Last April Helen, Laura and I turned up Jan's road en route to a walk in Malham, and there she was in her garden so we stopped for a cuppa and a catch up.  As usual, she was full of fun and concern for us rather than for her own health.   Husband Alan chose the 'young Jan at 21' photo for the order of service, I'd forgotten those marvellous cheekbones!  The other photo shows Jan as she was last April, still enjoying a laugh.
