There he sits, avoiding conflict and the cold!

He is staking out a quiet spot in the branches over the back porch feeders. The swarms of starlings, cowbirds, and finches are enough to make any self-respecting male Northern Cardinal keep his distance.

He will sit there for a time, watching, waiting. Eventually he'll fly over from his perch to the feeder, grab a few sunflower seeds and flit away.

The temperature in the back yard is 28º F... that's -2,2º C. But no matter the temperature scale, Fahrenheit or Celsius, this Sunday afternoon in Ridgeside, Tennessee, it be COLD !

The birds are shivering and they are filling their beaks at the feeder... makin' a mess too!

Keep smilin'
