Nostalgia
For someone who almost never goes into Reading - a second day in a row is completely out of character! I decided to go early - right for when the shops opened and hoped to beat the rush, which I did. Saturday mornings are really very quiet - until about 11am!
I found myself at the same place as yesterday but without the street-food stalls. This is Market Square. I like this area because of the older buildings. So many were torn down and replaced with ugly modern buildings in the 60s and 70s. More recent development, though modern, seems to be more pleasing to the eye (to me, anyway).
I blipped the brown brick building before - on Oct 3rd. It used to be my bank - Barclays. The building on the far right (now an Estate Agent) was at one time an Italian restaurant that I went to a number of times but that was way back in the 80s and 90s. I can't remember when it changed. This used to be a busy area but the road to the right is now pedestrianised as is much of Reading (a big improvement).
I did a bit more shopping today and was more successful than yesterday. Several sale items came home with me! But the hunt is exhausting! I was glad to get home and spend the afternoon watching the penultimate day of the Tour de Ski! Very exciting!
