Little mermaid plus tourists

After another very hot night in the hotel, we packed up, had breakfast and then headed off for a quick explore before our return flight. Luckily the heavy rain died down and we had a good day walking round the city.

We had one of the canal tour boats almost to ourselves with a very helpful guide. This is the view of the little mermaid statue from the tour boat. We'd seen the coach-loads of tourists arrive at the edge of the harbour. The statue is very small but a very popular tourist attraction. The mermaid has taken some abuse - lost heads and arms, blown off her plinth by explosives and been covered in paint.

Managed a trip past some royal palaces, a visit to the botanical gardens and a shopping opportunity in the Lego shop before we had to head back to the airport.

Back home safe and sound by about 9.30 pm but not long before it will be time for work again.....
