Red Kite
On the way at lunch time to collect Chris from work when I saw a Red Kite above the Moor. Luckily the Parrog car park was coming up and I had the camera on the passenger seat. By the time I had extracted myself from the car the bird had moved some distance away and he was being harassed by the local seagulls who plainly did not want him in their territory . This aggrieve behaviour is commonplace against buzzards ,who are a relatively common in this are,a whereas the Red Kite is still a rare sight over the town.
The Red Kite is seen as a conservation success story as their numbers were very low at one time. Feeding programs and a better understanding of this bird has seen their numbers and their territory spreading across most of Wales . They reached Fishguard and area several years ago and are a magnificent sight with a huge wingspan and a deep red colour that glows when suns shining
