Great Mell Fell

Seen from below Souther Fell.

I walked from Mungrisedale road end via the Mill Inn and on to Threlkeld, a distance of 10k. Souther Fell provided a good windbreak.

The last time I did this walk was in July 2016. It's incredible how (after months of physio etc etc) the distance 'miraculously' has shrunk along with the time taken. I remember it as a huge distance, a massive undertaking that I could only just manage with huge pain build up at the end.

The interesting thing is that my perception was never that my body was inadequate for the task but that it was a monster quest only a madman would undertake! I'm sure for most this is a gentle stroll, now I can almost see that that's what it may become.
