Lake Manapouri
We drove south on SH6 from Queenstown towards Te Anau which will be the next stop. Drove via Kingston and trough Garston (which is the furthest point inland in the whole of New Zealand and has a population of 106!) Turned onto the SH97 and drove through Mossburn and diverted to Manapouri to take photos. Much of scenery today reminded me very much of the Lake District. It made quite a change to drive along roads with views extending to the distant mountains rather than roads lined by tropical forests which afford few distant 'views'.
Arrived Te Anau mid afternoon. Nice and warm and sunny although rain is forecast for the weekend. Nearby Milford Sound has one of the highest rainfalls in the world at 7m per annum.
