Not Gonna Grow-up
We joined our friends -- the Keeter family -- at their vacation rental beach house located near Mission Bay in San Diego for a stupendous day. Even though the sky was overcast, the air was not terribly cold. The four kids -- Darla 15, Zac 13, Gracie 11, and Ellie 8 -- played in the waves and had a great time.
They had brought a pick-up truck loaded full of bicycles with them from home in Orange County, and Mr. Fun just could not resist the urge to jump on and give one a try -- the one with the "ape hanger" handlebars. He came riding toward me and then slammed on the brake to skid the back tire and make it screech. We can take the boy out of jr. high, but we can't take jr. high out of the boy!
Our day was so fun. A delicious dinner was barbecued -- t-bone steak, halibut, and salmon, along with a garden salad, and quinoa that was spiced with lime juice, cilantro, and halved cherry tomatoes. It was after dark when we said our goodbyes and started the almost 2 hour drive toward home. (Our pups were at the kennel and would be spending the night there.)
"Sand between our toes and salty kisses" has been our summer 2012 motto and today we had both.
Good night from Southern California.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
