Chincherinchee
Doesn't it sound like a song Mary Poppins could sing? These flowers are called Ornithogalum saundersiae or Giant chincherinchee , in Dutch sometimes called Zuidenwindlelie. They're part of a bouquet I received last night as part of a try-out subscription to an online florist service. When you subscribe you receive a fresh bouquet regularly , choosing how often per month you'll get fresh flowers and what size of bouquet you want. They then choose the flowers which they say are fresh from the growers on the day they deliver it to your home. They also say the bouquets will be different from usual ones at florist's shops, will have a great diversity of flowers and basically no unnecessary green fillers. They had all sorts of airy colourful bouquets on their promotion site. I am therefore kind of surprised with what I received last night. It's a bouquet in green and white, and it contains 20 different stems of which 5 are green fillers. See the extra for the whole bouquet. I will wait for the next bouquet in three weeks time before taking a decision to continue with the subscription or not :-)
A chincherinchee flower head for Flower Friday with thanks to BikerBear for her hosting (and yes, the background is the garden through the window with snow on the ground). Most of the snow is melting away now, but there are intermittent snow showers. No real sight of the storm they're warning about yet.
Thanks so much for all the green entries for Abstract Thursday and for all the visits, comments and even faves for yesterday's big green bag abstract :-)
