The Early Bird Catches...

Well, there aren't many worms available at this time of year so they have to make do with fatballs.  They can also choose peanuts, sunflower seeds, other seeds, or the large piece of fat from the holiday ham, a real birdie smörgåsbord.
They seem to prefer feeding in the sun, if the weather gives that choice, and as soon as the sun rises, and shines on our feeding spot they arrive as a flock.
The low sun picks up the icy crystals and gives the snow a warm hue.
