Shuttle
Today we enjoyed a much anticipated visit to the Kennedy Space Centre at Cape Canaveral. The image is one of the actual shuttles that went into space. You can see the open payload bay where huge pieces of equipment were transported to assemble the ISS (the International Space Station) and also where the entire Hubble telescope had been taken for repair. While the Hubble is enormous and heavy, the weightlessness of space permitted astronauts to capture it and manoeuvre it into the shuttle bay for repair.
The whole day was fascinating and there were many interactive displays. I had a shot at landing the glider-like shuttle back to earth and I'm afraid I crashed it each time!
