Today's assignment from the book "Vision 365: Mastering the Everyday Practice of Seeing": photograph a rectangle.

Bit of a miserable day weather wise and a typical Moody Monday. Brief walk at lunch and on the lookout for rectangular shaped of interest. Passed this small column at the side of a shop frontage on a busy street. Initially drawn to the shape, it's texture and then the colour. Shot on the iPhone and processed in vsco.

Struggled to decide on whether to keep the colour as it was one of the original qualities that drew my attention. I also like the B&W version I created and it felt right with the moody bleakness of the day.

Sticking with the colour version, why not? After all the subject is the shape. Cropped it tight to the shape for emphasis.
