The Rosslyn Panel.
I asked Mrs TD to take my Blip for me today and, it was while she was doing so that I saw the Blip Central posting about breaching copyright. Although I fully agree with the need to protect peoples’ copyright and to avoid jeopardising Blipfoto’s integrity, I was a little miffed that three people had decided to use it to raise the issue of Blippers not posting against the day they took their photograph, an topic that caused a lot of unpleasantness and completely sidestepped the mantra of “being nice to one another” last year. Posting against the wrong day is not a major problem even though many people don't actually understand the rule; over the four years that I have been here, several of my blips have accidentally ended on the wrong date and, not knowing how to correct the problem, I ended up deliberately used my next picture to compensate for the error so that I didn’t have any gaps. Did I commit any cardinal sin? Did I hurt anybody? Does it matter? According to some people, I did and it does; I have a strong aversion to people telling me what to do when it really doesn’t concern them or is of any consequence, it goes back to an unfortunate school life.
Today, Herself went to a little celebration; the new Rosslyn panel (a replacement for the stolen one) is now officially complete after much angst. It is very good and I have been involved with it for some time but, understandably, I wasn’t invited to the party – hence the request. I didn’t actually do any physical work on the tapestry and I don’t own a share of the copyright to the image other than as the husband of Herself, “What’s mine is mine and what’s hers is mine.” It does work the other way too, of course. So I present an important piece of my life and the only part I took in creating the image was a little artistic advice, some taxi driving and a little perspective correction.
I’m really proud of the girls for creating such a magnificent piece of work – twice.
