Watching the grand thaw
We have five distinct seasons here in central NY state. The Season of the Thaw comes in January between a few heavy snows of December or November, and this year October delivered a big snow. Scared everyone that a horrible winter might be due.
But, no! The thaw season is really here. Rain helps wash away the snow drifts. Some years flooding happens because the soil is actually too frozen solid to perk the rain.
Well, that is what is happening now as Gracie Twinkle-toes watches from inside. The Thaw Season and what comes before and after is boring unless the cats have a successful Vole Hunting time. Wetness of melted snow are prime conditions for Vole appearances.
Thankfully no voles have been brought inside as live toys so far...this year. Only 17 days have passed.
Well, as you see in this blip the rain does its work melting the snow on a usual overcast day, the white crusted lawn, fog, and GT-t pleads with me because she is bored and wondering when her favourite seasons with sun will arrive. A great deal of her time is spent sleeping. I was glad to see her upright and posing this morning. Ho-hum... snacking and then back to her laundry basket for the rest of the day.
