Brighton Beach
Today I took the kids to Brighton by train. Not as bonkers as it initially sounds, we went so Carys could meet Chanel, the friend she made on holiday in Spain last year. Carys and Chanel have corresponded, in a variety of manners over the past year, letters, postcards, parcels, photos, so it was lovely to see them meet up again.
I was initially concerned that it might be a disaster and that Carys would get shy and silly or that I would have nothing to talk to Chanel's Mum about, but I needn't have worried. The girls greeted each other with a big hugs and set off into the restaurant holding hands and chatting and the chatting didn't stop until we left! William was his usual cheeky self, so endeared himself to Chanel's family. I had no problems chatting to Chanel's Mum, Gran and Aunty, they all came along to see Carys, which was lovely. After lunch we had a quick stroll on the pier, although I was worried about the Boy trying to jump off, then we went down on the beach where we spent the rest of the day. The girls played nicely, William got knocked over by a wave (I laughed, bad Mummy!) and tried my patience throwing stones.
We all headed back in the direction of the station, but we missed our train by a minute. I was gutted, but the next train although slower did mean we could go all the way to St. Pancras without negotiating the tube, which on a Friday evening was a blessing.
I did have a few lovely shots of the two girls, but as I forgot to ask Lisa's permission I didn't think I should post any of them as my blip.
