Life through the lens...

A tale of two cities

Firstly to Bradford, to look round the new(ish) Broadway shopping centre which we have not seen before.
A great improvement to the hole in the ground which has been there for years.
Nice to see Bradford has a department store once again, even if it is a chain like Debenhams.
( I can remember the good old days of Brown Muffs and Busbys. )
Then to see the new Sunbridge Wells  which opened just before Christmas.
We were very impressed. Found the whole underground tunnels fascinating.
Originally a 13th century quarry, and then in it's heyday in the 1960's , a night club called The Little Fat Black Pussycat.
(  Funny but I don't remember it )
Full of mainly cafes and bars, I think it comes into it's own at night.
The photo on the left is a fabulous display by Phill Routh. A real work of art.
We then went to catch the bus home, but had 25mins. to wait. Noticed there was a fast bus to Leeds leaving in 2mins. and so decided to catch that instead.
Great sat upstairs at the front of the bus. We saw parts of the towns we hadn't seen for ages, and what a view!
So arrived in Leeds about 35mins later.
MrC went to the Information Centre and sorted out his new bus pass, as the old one runs out next month.
Then for a walk through the Victoria Quarter, where we could hear some jazzy music being played somewhere.
Found these guys ( photo on the right) playing in Briggate.
They had drawn quite a crowd. All tapping their feet, and with big smiles on their faces. We all gave them a big applause when they had finished, and most, including us, put some money in the violin case.
They really brightened up a dull day.

So a round trip. Free with our buss pass. Home about 4.15pm after a very enjoyable day out.

P.S.  I can recommend the cafe at Waterstones, in Bradford.
A bacon sandwich, very well cooked, and cup of good coffee for £3.00.
