Big issue

This is a Big Issue seller on Rosemount Viaduct.
I was listened to last weekend's radio broadcast of Loose Ends today. One of the guests was John Bird. He was made a Lord recently. He is also the founder of The Big Issue
He was born into a racist, Irish, working class family in London ( His words)
I have never been a fan of the honours list, but if all Lords, or Ladies were of his ilk my opinion might change.
He was made a Lord at the same time as a woman who came from a similar background and now runs a nursing school. So they both know, and more importantly, remember, what it was like to be poor, destitute, homeless, and in his case, an ex prisoner.
Now aged 70, he still tries to fight for what is right.
