Egret in Flight
Let me just get this out of the way right up front. I didn't take this picture today. It is pouring rain and there is a gale warning until tomorrow morning. It will be a long night of branches banging against the house and wind whistling around the gables...we're supposed to have five days of this and 6 more inches of rain by the time it is over. We're hoping that no trees fall out of the saturated ground onto the power lines.
The jauntily narcissus blooming by the driveway have been knocked down and trampled by the rain. The birds that venture forth to the feeders have to hang on for dear life whilst being buffeted by the wind gusts. The creek across the street, which had time to return to a normal flow is roaring again and OilMan has given up on checking his drains and diverters. If they fail we'll know about it soon enough.
Ozzie won't go outside. He just lies in his bed and moans. I won't go outside either, although I'm not moaning yet, just whining. OilMan keeps trying to coax Ozzie outside, but he doesn't really want to go outside either. He's trying to explain to Ozzie that he can't stop the rain.
I thought yesterday's picture of an egret in flight would be better than a shot of our hallway....
