Cormorant?

It was blissfully cool and misty today, a respite from the searing heat of yesterday, but back to usual heatwave conditions tomorrow.

Everybody will know what this is, but a quick google leads me to believe it's a small pied cormorant.

Certainly, according to the code on the board at the local duck pond it is not one of the four varieties of birds which are the only birds which are allowed there.

Clearly it is illiterate, and stood very much alone and lonely.

Better fly away little cormorant, before the council impounds you.
