Get a move on!

In June I blipped a House Martin's nest that had appeared in the village bus shelter. Now we seem to have a second brood just about ready to fly. At the moment these three just sit on the ledge without hardly moving. We are a bit concerned that, although they look pretty well-fed and sturdy, they do not have very long before they will have to fly to sunnier climes with the rest of the House Martins. They usually leave around the middle of September, so these three have only a few weeks to learn to fly and build up the energy to take them all the way to Africa. And Dufton to Africa is a long, long way!!

We did go walking this afternoon, but it rained (although the forecast said it would be dry) and the paths and tracks were incredibly muddy. So a three hour walk took us more like four and a half hours. I did have some nice photos from the walk, but decided the House Martins won't be there very long and so they had to be the blip.
