Ten Hours To Remember

What a wonderful day (and night) I had at my 40th reunion! It started at two in the afternoon, handing out name tags with people's High School yearbook pictures and names on them as they arrived (which were really helpful in identifying each other). It wrapped up as I danced at midnight the person who had been in classes with me since the second grade, with him singing, "Love Me Tender" in his best, soft Elvis voice as a tear ran down my cheek. No music, no one else around.

I must have looked back through my yearbook a hundred times during the past year trying to remember who those people were...trying to remember my connection to them. But it didn't take long, at either the bar on Friday night, or the Country Club on Saturday for the memories and connections to come flooding back. A smile, the sound of their voice, the slightest mannerism...it seemed like just yeasterday.

The class crack ups were there. Leo, Bruce, Ron, The neighborhood I grew up in was very small and out of the way but Ed and Diane were there. Memories from both inside and outside of school.

The most popular and beautiful girl in the class was there. Sadly, she has Parkinson's disease. But she was one of the last people to leave and so grateful to me, in particular, for getting this whole reunion thing started three years ago. I always had a fondness for Ginger, even though we didn't hang around much together in school.

Among the group were Pat, Peggy, Linda W, two Cathy B's, Bill (I told him to keep working out because he looks GREAT!), Claudia and Denise (my fellow girl's sports buddies) , Nancy and that special someone - John - all looked great.

All thanks to the guy I knew three years ago could pull this off, my old softball coach, Bob. So a huge shout out to Bob and all of my friends whom I love (named and unnamed) and miss already. See you all gathered again- same time, same place, same weekend in 2022.
