The Pacific and Lagoon at Esquimalt

We enjoyed a trip today with our host, Sheila today. Started at Government House gardens and a walk along the Gorge walkway followed by a walk along the ocean here. The amazing thing is that the beach is absolutely littered with huge logs which have become dislodged from logging  operations-bizarre!
We watched lots of birds at the Lagoon and drove past Fishguard Lighthouse before taking in the beautiful huge trees and Japanese Gardens at Royal Roads University.

We finished our tour at the top of Mount Douglas Park, or Pkols in native Indian, which had a splendid view of the Canadian Islands and US coastline.

A splendid meal of steak and Sheila's own Barollo wine finished off our great day. Off to Vancouver tomorrow.
