Ancient tree stumps
Went for a tramp round a small patch of wood adjoining our land. It is really full of saplings left over from the original trees that were once felled. The trees have not grown maturely as they all stand too close together. They need thinning and new healthy broad leaved trees planted in their place. The trouble is the wood has changed hands several times over during the last decades and no-one really cares for it but it is a haven for wildlife - deer, foxes, badgers, rabbits and birds.
One wonders what the future will hold for the USA and the rest of the world ....
