A conundrum

No one is likely to steal this bicycle firstly because it is a wreck and secondly because it has been securely padlocked to the post.  There it has remained for many months and no-one has retrieved it.  Was it a prank?  Did the owner forget where he put it and has been searching the lanes ever since?  Has the owner died?  It is a mystery but at least a distraction on a cold walk around the village undertaken purely for the exercise. It has been a very grey day today.
