Camping trip to Canberra

This was our next busy day sightseeing in our National Capital city. The city was a sheep paddock until early last century, it has just had its 100th birthday. They dammed the river to create a lake and all the streets are laid out so you have vistas of the main public buildings. All the suburbs are hidden away from view and it's hard for tourists to find the shops and petrol stations. Very strange but beautiful in its own way.

Yesterday ( another back blip due to no internet at the campsite) we visited the museum which had a special exhibition featuring the 100 objects they thought depicted the history of mankind. We arrived early and they had to stagger people entering due to the crowds. When we got out after an hour the queue to get in was very long. I am wondering if they have reached the front of the queue yet. blipping was difficult due to the cabinets they had things safely stored in for display.

After that we went to the Arboretum and the shots include pine cones originating from the original "Lone Pine"tree in Gallipoli ( planted by Kevin Rudd and the Turkish Ambassador), a sculpture "Nest 3" made from old farming tools, view from the top, siblings looking at the view, a bonsai in the Bonsai display and cork. They established a cork plantation there in 1917 and harvest every 10 years. In the middle section bottom row is a Wollemi pine. its our favourite place in Canberra and will be fantastic in years to come.
