The Winds of Change
... have left many of the 800 or so windmills that once stood in Lincolnshire in ruins. Up to a century ago these windmills were grinding flour for Lincolnshire's inhabitants. This one, on the edge of the village of Epworth is ripe for a restoration project, or conversion into an unusual home.
Being yet another grey day, this was the most colourful shot I got when we met with a friend for a leisurely walk. At least it stayed dry, and there was a welcome stop at White Bear Pub in Epworth at the end of the walk.
The extra shows one of the many irrigation channels in the area. Although the countryside is rather flat, it was a surprisingly interesting area to explore.
